Figma collaborative design tool launches
Figma announced its invite-only preview release on December 3, 2015 — a browser-based UIUser interface — the parts of software people see and interact with. design app with real-time multiplayer editing.
What it was for
Figma replaced Sketch files emailed between designers and developers — components, variants, and dev-mode specs lived in one shared URLUniform Resource Locator — the address that identifies a resource on the web.. Design systems, FigJam whiteboards, and plugins made it the default handoff layer between product design and frontend implementation.
